THE IMPACT OF PROCUREMENT TRAINING ON PROCUREMENT PROCESS EFFICIENCY AND ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE: A PLS-SEM ANALYSIS

Abstract

This study delves into the role of procurement training on procurement process efficiency and its subsequent impact on organizational performance. Employing the resource-based view theory as a theoretical foundation, the research adopts a quantitative approach, utilizing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). This study adopted a purposive-convenient sampling technique to select the needed respondents. 312 procurement officials from diverse institutions in Ghana as participants were engaged in the study. The findings reveal a significant effect of procurement training on procurement process efficiency and organizational performance. The positive correlation between procurement and process efficiency contributes to enhanced organizational performance. These results emphasize the pivotal role of training interventions in optimizing the procurement process, benefiting overall organizational effectiveness. Recognizing the substantial impact of training on enhancing efficiency and, in turn, organizational performance, organizations are encouraged to invest strategically in procurement training programs. This research contributes valuable insights to the field, offering a nuanced understanding of the interplay between training, process efficiency, and organizational performance in the procurement domain.

Eric Boafo Dadzie, Department of Procurement and Supply Chain, Takoradi Technical University, Takoradi, Ghana

Eric Boafo Dadzie holds a PhD in Project Procurement Engineering. He is currently a senior lecturer at Takoradi Technical University's Department of Procurement and Supply Chain. He has held several positions within the universities and has published numerous articles in respected journals worldwide. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management (Ghana) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

John Amoah, Department of Marketing and Human Resource Management, KAAF University College, Ghana

John Amoah is a lecturer at the Department of Marketing and HRM of KAAF University College, Kasoa, Ghana. He holds a PhD in Marketing Management from the Tomas Bata University, Zlin, Czech Republic. Currently, he is the Masters' Coordinator of the MBA Program of the Faculty of Business School. He serves on several editorial boards, such as Cogent Business and Management, among others, as well as a reviewer. John Amoah is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, CIM-Ghana. His main areas of research are SME development, social media analysis, and service marketing, among others. The results of his research have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at numerous international conferences around the globe.

Sulemana Bankuoru Egala, Department of Informatics, Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies, Wa, UW/R, Ghana

Sulemana Bankuoru Egala is a lecturer and head of the Department of Informatics, Faculty of ICT at the SDD University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), Wa, Ghana. Holds a PhD in Management Science and Engineering with a specialization in Data Mining and Information Management from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC). He also holds a Bachelor's and Master of Philosophy degrees in computing and information systems. He has a vast interest in the areas of informatics and information systems, including health informatics, open data, and social business analytics. He has several authored/co-authored peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals.

Solomon Abekah Keelson, Department of Marketing & Strategy, Takoradi Technical University, Takoradi, Ghana

     Solomon Abekah Keelson is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Strategy at the Business Faculty of Takoradi Technical University, Ghana. He holds a PhD in Marketing and Strategy from Open University, Malaysia, an MBA in Marketing, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. Prof Keelson also holds a professional certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK. He is a Chartered member of Marketing - UK and Ghana and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Consultants. Keelson is a renowned academic with several publications and taught for over 25 years. He has also worked as a thesis Assessor (internationally and externally) for various tertiary institutions in Ghana and other countries. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Business at Takoradi Technical University

Abdul Jibril Bashrisu, Department of Management and Management, School of Business and Economics, Westminster International University, Tashkent, Uzbekistan

Dr. Abdul Bashiru Jibril is a Senior Lecturer (Marketing) at Westminster International University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Dr Jibril holds a PhD in Marketing Management from Tomas Bata University in Zlin, Czech Republic. His research focuses on Technology adoption, social media analytics, Service marketing, Brand management, and Sustainable e-tourism. He is interested in deploying data mining techniques to extract intelligence to improve business decision-making, especially for marketers and corporate success in emerging and developing economies. He has led and been involved in a research team to execute several external projects in Europe and Africa. He is currently a principal investigator of a Fair Work project (UK) between the University of Oxford and the International University of Rabat, Morocco. The results of his research have been published in impacted and ABS/ABDC ranking journals, such as the International Journal of Information Management, International Journal of Consumer Studies, etc., and contributed to book chapters (in Springer) and Conference proceedings. He has also actively participated and presented at numerous international scientific conferences (indexed in WoS/Scopus/Springer) with host countries such as the USA, UK, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, etc. He serves as Associate Editor for Cogent Business and Management (Taylor & Francis), Editorial review board member for the International Journal of Neuroscience and Neuroinformatics (IJNN) (IGI Global), and Sectional Editor for Current Social Sciences (Bentham Science Publishers).
